Search Engine Optimisation

Search Engine Optimisation is a term that is becoming increasingly heard. This is no surprise, as SEO is really important in the virtual world. The larger the Internet grows, the more critical it is to keep up to scratch with the processes that lead to Joe landing up on your website. For those of you not in the SEO know, Search Engine Optimisation basically refers to the tactics that get your website seen and recognised by Search Engines and the crawlers that they send out. It's about making your mark on the Internet.
So if Joe types in a word or phrase that's been correctly incorporated in your website into a search engine, your website page should pop up in the search results. The better the SEO is done, the higher your website page will appear on the results page. This is referred to as your "page rank".

In The Matrix-inspired, full-length shiny leather trench coat terminology: Logical navigation with graceful CSS degradation*, together with XML site maps* will ensure that Google finds and indexes all the web pages of your site making it more attractive to higher volume visitor traffic and better page rank.
Ideally Search Engine Optimisation should start at architecture level of the web development process, starting with the design, layout and standards compliant programming. This will include the initial site planning (or page theme creation) that will make it possible to optimise various pages of your web site for specific terms and identified keywords whilst keeping every topic highly relevant.

If this hasn't been the process from the start: slap on the wrist! Then, call us...

Back Link Checking & Analysis
If your company website is established, we check and review the incoming links to your domain. Recommendations are then drawn up to build and extend your link base through reciprocal or paid links* for the best possible returns. Similar recommendations are made for new domains or companies.

XML Site Map Construction & Webmaster Submission
The Site map Protocol allows you to inform search engines about URL's on your web sites that are available for crawling.* The XML protocol was written to be highly scalable so it can accommodate sites of any size. Please note that the Site map Protocol supplements, but does not replace, the crawl-based mechanisms that search engines already use to discover URL's. By submitting a Site map (or Site maps) to a search engine, you will help that engine's crawlers to do a better job of crawling your site.

Google Analytics
Site Urchin is added to all pages, for Analytics statistics and more in-depth visitor monitoring and page specific statistics. These statistics can be provided monthly on request and form a useful information base for any decisions regarding implementing additional pay per click campaigns.

Search Engine & Directory Submissions
Search engine submission are made to all the relevant directories and search engines, with care taken to avoid automated software or 'link farms' that could adversely affect or even result in your site being banned from certain engines. The indexing period is not fixed, and is dependent on search engine spiders and certain algorithms that take site traffic and popularity into consideration. It can take anything from one week to three months for a search engine to find and index a web site, with certain search engines requiring two or three crawls to index all pages.

Organic* listings are highly prized for each category our clients compete within.
